10475us Completely uninstalling ActivInspire

Applicable to:

ActivInspire for Windows

Note:  Following this document will remove all components of ActivInspire from your Windows PC.  Depending on what has been discussed with the Promethean Support technician, not all steps in this document will apply to your situation.  Please consult with tech support before proceeding with the [Optional] tasks below, as these may not be required, and may cause issues to your system if done incorrectly.

**Please note, in the majority of cases, using Windows’ Add or Remove Programs will uninstall ActivInspire completely – and should always be done before attempting to use this article**

Tools/Applications Needed:

Add or Remove Programs (from Control Panel)
Windows Installer Clean Up Utility
[optional**Only required if advised by Promethean Technical Support**] Delete Inspire Data

Prerequisite(s):

ActivInspire has already been uninstalled using Add or Remove Programs from the Control Panel.

How To:

1.      Run the Installer Clean Up Utility, and if ActivInspire is listed, select it and remove it.  If this does not apply to you, then proceed to the 2^nd step.

2.       Go to these locations, and delete these files/folders if they exist: 

C:\Program Files\Activ Software\Inspire
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Promethean\

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Activ Software\Inspire
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Promethean\ActivInspire

3.       [optional**Please only perform if advised to do so by Promethean Technical Support**]  Delete the Activsoftware directory from the registry:

a.      Click “Start,” select “Run,” and type “regedit.”

b.      Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Activ Software\Inspire, and delete this key

4.      [optional**Please only perform if advised to do so by Promethean Technical Support**] Download and run the Delete Inspire Data file listed above.
